Swedish Learning and Living
Swedish Learning and Living offers language courses that are customized to meet the individual needs of the student. Your instructor will take your current language level into account, and adjust the lessons accordingly. Our teachers have long teaching careers in all education levels, and they are interested in their work. They have academic teachers´ certifications and have taken additional courses in pedagogy. With 15 years of linguistic and teaching experience, you can’t go wrong!
Is there a specific area of the language you would like to concentrate on? We can help! Whether you’re learning Swedish for business, for school, or just for fun, your instructor will make sure the lessons focus on the things you want to learn. We will strive to ensure that all your expectations are met.
Students in our program stay with their instructor in his or her home, and learn about Swedish culture through day-to-day contact with the family. There are beautiful surroundings with typical Swedish housing areas, natural parks, woods, and nearby lakes. Students stay in their own room and have access to TV and the Internet. Wireless Internet is available for students who wish to bring their laptops. Full Board Meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are included, as are bed linens and towels.
Here is what students think of our program:
“Staying with my teacher was great. She treated me like one of the family and I felt at home right away. She was very helpful, especially when I decided to travel a bit on my own—she looked up all the train and bus times for me as well as supplying me with tons of maps and brochures. She also took me around and showed me the city and explained how to use the various transportation systems, which I very much appreciated.
The lessons themselves were also excellent. Though I was only there a week, I could really tell that my speaking and listening abilities were improving a lot. In a country where it’s easy to fall back on English, it was nice to have a place where I felt comfortable enough to practice my Swedish and learn from my mistakes.
I signed up for 15 hours of language study, but I continued learning well after the allotted time; I learned so much just being with a family and having to communicate about everyday things. Often words or situations from the lessons would come up in daily life, and my teacher was quick to point out the similarities and review.
In short, I had a wonderful experience and learned a lot. I would recommend this to anyone serious about learning Swedish. Erin, USA"
